Be accurate and fast!
Proofamatics enables learners to increase the
accuracy of written communication through improved
proofreading skills. This course teaches learners
which types of errors are most commonly made in
written communications and provides a 3-phase
skimming and scanning system for finding and
correcting all grammar, format, spelling and related
errors.
Proofamatics benefits everyone who generates or
processes written communications. In today’s environment many people at all levels are generating
and checking written communications, as they work
increasingly on their own computers and laptops.
Proofamatics is a classroom-based workshop that
provides several types of exercises from which
learners learn a variety of crucial proofreading skills. Topics include: grammar/ spelling review, consistency
in capitalisation and style, and a 3-phase skimming
and scanning proofreading system that enables
learners to search for, and correct, specific types of
errors.
Participants also review and perform ergonomic
exercises designed to strengthen eye muscles, reduce eye fatigue, and relax stressed muscles.
Up to 15 learners are trained together over four
sessions of three and a half hours each. Facilitators
apply Proofamatics techniques to the organisation's
in-house style and format, thus ensuring that learners
are able to implement the techniques and meet
organisational requirements.
Proofamatics delivers measurable improvement
in finding and correcting errors. Learners average
a 29% increase in accuracy during the course
from pre-test to post-test. In addition, the
organisation benefits from reduced costs of
production and increased productivity.
